The West is an online publication that specializes in advertisement analysis. The magazine explores the implications of the advertising industry by drawing on comparisons between American advertisements and African advertisements which share similar format and content. The West holds a concentration in West Africa and the development of westernization within these advertisements.
Our aim is to analyze and publicize all aspects of advertising trends of these various global areas and cultures through multimedia presentations. We focus on the mediums of magazine, radio, commercials, and billboard advertising. The West attempts to extend the dialogue of representations as it pertains to advertisement to all and to build a community of readers interested in visual culture.
The West is a free site open to the public at large. We are also currently developing an archive of academic papers on advertising as it relates to globalization, as well as reviews of books on advertising in northeastern Asia. The Editorial Staff gives presentations around the world on this academia on a weekly basis.
The presentations published by The West express the views of the editors and do not reflect the views of pretty much anyone else, specifically.
